答案B。我曾选C，而且直到现在，我的第一反应往往还是C。

觉得对称得很完美。到底我的考虑错在哪儿呢？

唉，经mjiehu 这么一还原，的确B的对称比C的更完美。

只是，在考试中如何摆脱先入为主，如何又快又准地找到正确答案？这大概就是需要下苦功修炼的地方了。

E中的the distribution of mass不符合能省就省的原则, 其次, 这里用分词更好, 定语从句表示一次性的感觉, 这里用分词修饰表示并不是一次性的事实.

选B的话，that应该是指代The distribution of mass ，这样指代可以吗？

那位nn可以讲讲。前两天一个GWD的题也是类似情况。

我的理解：C选项中的that可以指代the distribution 也可以指代 the core,指代模糊，而B选项就没有这个问题

赞同Avantasia的省略原则，gmat里分词要优于从句做修饰成分。

如何判断B的还原为:

within... , like within...
the distribution of mass within the core of the Earth
that (the distribution of mass) within the mantle surrounding the core

就是因为B里面有一个共同的元素within, 所以that指代的就是within前面的所有成分?
