In other words，Baker contends，women activists were early practitioners of nonpartisan，issue oriented politics and thus were more interested in enlisting lawmakers，regardless of their party affiliation，on behalf of certain issues than in ensuring that one party another won an election．前面的几个分句都好理解，但是最后一句on behalf of certain issues than in ensuring that one party another won an election是怎么理解，这几个分句是怎样的结构，谢谢！

我认为可以理解成 "代表了讨论的主要内容,而不是去保证这个或者那个党派赢得竞选".

后面几个句子应该是并列的结构,都是在说明 "women activists were early practitioners of nonpartisan ”.
