答案选B，我选了A，是不是since一定要跟完成时一起出现？还是问题出在as well as？

if only 后面可以直接跟because,朗文字典上有例句如下：Media studies is regarded as a more exciting subject, if only because it's new. 1）此题关键是说并非duplicated facilities should be avoided,而应该是duplication of facilities 这种行为应该被避免，所以排除A,B,C. 2）while表达转折关系，逻辑意思于原句相反，错译排除D,选E

A错在把 Robert Boyle这个人说成了一种chemistry, 逻辑意思错

on condition that 表示基于。。。得条件，可以理解为是提出者得一种期望，后面要用虚拟语气，因此用动词原型be。

2. had 为had caused 省略，表示过去完成时，但此题明确有时间状语in 1910-1911,所以应该用一般过去时，排除B.

2. 逻辑比较应该是Sensation Halley's comet caused in any other historical sighting 与sensation its return caused in 1910-1911,而不是sensation 和 its return作比较，排除 E.

原句倒装，把句子还原后：

Halley's comet caused in no other histroical sighting such a worldwide sensation as its return in 1910-1911 did (caused sensation)

这里所比较得成分是 sensation caused by Halley commet in other historical sighting 与 sensation caused by its(Halley's comet's) return in 1910-1911
