award for 是固定搭配可是这里意思不对呀～变成对他们杰出勇敢的认识的延迟的奖励奖励延迟明显不对的么～

但是C和E里面为什么选E 呢？

但句子结构为：be awarded sth,同位语修饰sth,in long-overdue recognition-故E

C的结构为：be award sth,定语从句修饰sth,long-overdue in recognition

long-overdue为adj，故不能充当修饰整个句子的状语

换个思路解题

本题关键在于修饰关系，只要知道long-overdue这个词在句子中要表达本意就好了，句子的本意是“迟到已久的认可” （More than fifty years 和some of them posthumously提示这种认可来的太迟了），所以long-overdue只能用来修饰recognition。排除AC。

名词award指Congressional Medal of Honor，所以long-overdue recognition不可能通过介词for修饰award，排除BD。

剩下E，搭配Sb. be awarded Honor in recognition of sth.没有问题。

本句后半部分意思为：以表达对他们出色勇气的（迟到已久的）认可
