标题: [原创]在国内申请学校面试

在此抛砖引玉，大家多建议补充。

国内能申请到的面视机会相对比较少，尽量把握就很重要。

很多人认为，交完申请再做面试。这样做的优点是简历和基本问题都准备好了，但缺点是这时往往是interview by invitation only. 与其被动等待，不如早点出击。
对于中国申请者，面试是个机会展现我们的英语水平，同时，我们也可顺便掩住一些弱项。

早点申请的好处有：

1 可以拿自己保底或二类学校先做练习，为以后做准备。
2 有些问题，如why mba, why now, career goal, etc，在练习中可以不断得到发展和完善。对essay起促进作用。
3 早期容易引起adcom的注意，至少表明你对该校的关注和热情。

在国内能申请到的面试主要分三种：

1 Admission Director 的face to face面试。

虽然很多学校声明任何种面试都会同样考虑，但个人认为这种面试最直接，最有帮助。基本上，如果面试你的Director认为你很合适，录取问题就不大了。时间长度一般在30分钟到45分钟。

这里面分两个阶段。

第一阶段是提交申请前的面试。Admission Director会利用在国内做学校推介会和参加大型活动（如MBA Tour) 的机会在当地做些面试。一般在9-11月份。

第二阶段是提交申请后的面试。有些学校会在某些轮次结束后到中国做专门面试。即经常说的 interview by invitation, 面试由招生办发出邀请，而非本人申请。一般在 11 – 次年2月。

2 校友face to face面试。

有的学校会帮你安排，如Chicago GSB。有的学校是让你自己联系，如U of Michigan。大部分校友是非常友善的，面试气氛会比较轻松，有利于你的发挥。如果能得到校友的认可和帮助，会对申请过程很有利。时间长度不定，有机会尽量多聊聊。

但也有极少数的校友面试不尽如人意。去年在Wharton的S2S论坛上就看到一个中国申请者投诉他在北京面试时的遭遇。个人认为，可视情况向招生办说明事实或要求另外面试。

3 电话面试。

一般由Admission Director, 在校学生或校友主持。时间长度一般在30分钟到45分钟。

申请面试的一些策略：

1 主动申请。上学校网站，或发信打电话了解该校的面试政策。抓住学校招生办到中国做推广的机会做面试。

2 尽早准备简历和一些基本问题, 如career goal, why mba, why now, why xxx school。可参见CD 上的相关文章。

3 练习！练习！再练习！

以下是我总结的美国Top20 学校的面试政策 (校园面试除外) ：

1）Kellogg: 完成网上申请的第一部分后即可申请面试。

2) Chicago GSB: 填写网上面试申请，招生办会安排校友或电话面试。

Chicago GSB 需要你在交申请前，安排好你的面试。请注意时间表上的最后期限。

3) HBS:  by invitation only

4) Stanford: by invitation only

5) Wharton: by invitation only. 每轮申请后会发出面试通知，没收到基本等于落选。

6) MIT: by invitation only. 招生办会在1月份前后到中国面试第一/二轮的申请者。

7) Columbia: by invitation only. 招生办会在11月到北京和上海做学校推介会。

8) U of Michigan:
a)直接联系当地校友做面试. 每次只能联系1人，如5天后没有回音，可联系另一个。中国校友名单：

Prospective students can schedule 15 minute "counseling" appointments with the staff where we can answer questions about the program. These appointments can be scheduled through the admissions office front desk. The only restriction is that we do not make appointments with students on the waitlist.

9) Duke: 递交所有申请材料后，可申请面试。国内基本是校友面试。
Duke的在线申请系统中仅提供了香港的校友面试选择，但实际上就去年经验，还是有北京和上海的校友面试机会，由招生办协调安排。但人数有限，尽早联系。

10) Tuck: by invitation only

11) Cornell: 招生办会于明年1月到中国。11月15日前交申请材料，可优先考虑面试。

12) Darden: by invitation only。据我所知，9月在北京和上海的MBA Tour，他们还是根据简历挑了些人做面试。

13) Haas: by invitation only

14) Yale: by invitation only

15) Stern, NYU: by invitation only. 强烈建议申请第一轮(12月1日)，能够拿到招生办的面试机会(是否在中国，目前不详).

16) Anderson: by invitation only

17) Marshall: by invitation only

18) UNC: 完成网上申请的第一部分后可申请面试。

19) CMU: no off-campus interview provided.

20) Kelly: To make arrangements for an interview, call the MBA
admissions office at 800 994-8622 or 812 855-8006.

I'd like to add some more info to the above school's interview policies. You can request interviews before you submit applications to these schools. Seize the chance when the schools are travelling to Asia to do recruiting and request interviews ahead of time. Usually, the schools will ask you to send in your resume and some basic info and if you are lucky, you can get a chance to interview with the admissions officer face to face.

For the above 4 schools, I know for sure that off-campus interviews with admissions committe are possible.

偶补充一个，washington university in st. louis 的 olin 可以安排申请前的面试，但是校友面试现在已经人满为患，电话面试需要你从中国打过去，买不买电话卡随便你，但是电话费肯定是中国申请人掏腰包的。
