Q6:
Sue’s monthly earnings consist of a monthly salary and a 4 percent commission on the portion of her monthly sales that is in excess of $2,000. If Sue’s monthly salary was the same in July as in August, how much greater were her sales in July than in August?
(1) Sue’s monthly earnings were $3,620 in July and $3,580 in August.
(2) Sue’s monthly salary was $3,500 in July and in August.
A. Statement (1) ALONE is sufficient, but statement (2) alone is not sufficient.
B. Statement (2) ALONE is sufficient, but statement (1) alone is not sufficient.
C. BOTH statements TOGETHER are sufficient, but NEITHER statement ALONE is sufficient.
D. EACH statement ALONE is sufficient.
E. Statements (1) and (2) TOGETHER are NOT sufficient.
Q20:
| Favorable | Unfavorable | Not Sure |
Candidate M | 40 | 20 | 40 |
Candidate N | 30 | 35 | 35 |
The table above shows the results of a survey of 100 voters each responded “favorable” or “unfavorable” or “not sure” when asked about their impressions of candidate M and of candidate N. What was the number of voters who responded “favorable” for both candidates?
(1) The number of voters who did not respond “favorable” for either candidate was 40.
(2) The number of voters who responded “unfavorable” for both candidates was 10.
Answer:
答案都是A, 请高手指教......................................................
Q6:
1.(3620-3580)/4%就是how much greater were her sales in July than in August
Q20
1.The number of voters who did not respond “favorable” for either candidate was 40
that is,Unfavorable +Not Sure for both=40
so : unfavorable, not sure for M but favorable for N=20+40-40=20
unfavorable, not sure for N but favorable for M=35+35-40=30
that is to say, there are 20 voters who favorable for M but not for N and there are also 20 voters who favorable for N but not for M
40-30=10
30-20=10
so the number of voters who responded “favorable” for both candidates is the smaller figure 10
Q6我原来也是选A,现在看好象要选C,因为条件1如果Sue's monthly salary= monthly earnings was $3,580 , 也就说8月没有 commission ,那就推不出great多少了!!是我理解有问题吗?

According to condition 1)
(3620-2000)/0.04 - (3580-2000)/0.04 = $1000
Hence, A is correct.
thanks, phoezi~ Q20 好像是这个道理~
Q6那道题里,2000不是基本工资啊, 为什么要和工资总数减哪? 我觉得Q6还是应该选E的.
Q6:
1.(3620-3580)/4%就是how much greater were her sales in July than in August
题目中没有说7月,8月的销售都超过了2000USD, 所以7月可以卖出800或1500的货, 没有销售提成, 这样减不太合适吧???

40-20=20 这里应该等于10
30-20=10
so the number of voters who responded “favorable” for both candidates is the smaller figure 10
