The given answer is C. 这题看着哪个都不对. C 中是倒桩吗? 好象很少见这样的用法, 而且为什么用一般现在时, 而不用一般过去时? Besides, 怎么决定需要不需要用特指呢? How to decide which is the better:
northern and southern Indian Alphabets
the northern and the southern Indian Alphabets
the northern and southern Indian Alphabets
再问一下, 怎么才能把 GMAT Prep questions copy paste 下来?

第二题:
A,B的from which离开the Aramaic script太远了
D错在both and 的动词应该是复数,E deriving from it 再加sth. 好象不对
C正确,倒装.偶理解both the A + the B 算一种对称吧....

请大N们指点，我的理解如下，仅供参考：
1. Joan Phikill attended用的过去时态，那时他是chair，不是former chair，如果是former chair，后面主句用与现在相关的时态。
2. .......the Aramaic script, from which derive both the northern and the...
这种结构中，正常语序和倒装都可用，取决于句子的平衡，不头重脚轻。
3.northern and southern Indian Alphabets :northern and southern共同修饰“1个”Indian Alphabets
the northern and the southern Indian Alphabets：前面省略了一个Indian Alphabets，共“2个” Indian Alphabets
the northern and southern Indian Alphabets：特指“1个/某个/这个-----前面出现过的”Indian Alphabets，它们的母体是northern and southern Indian Alphabets，northern and southern共同修饰“1个”Indian Alphabets

这种结构中，正常语序和倒装都可用，取决于句子的平衡，不头重脚轻。
还有一个原因会不会是让 from which离先行词更近一些，这样就近不会有歧义。如果是 with it， from which，那from which就变成以it（主句主语）为先行词了。
