不过我也有一问: to tinker with a car 前是否省略了trying?

这道题应该是考平行结构和逻辑意思的合理性, 关键不是as 和like 的区别.
A中the same as 后面的(trying to)to tinker with a car when one is a teen-ager 与主语中的to learn some of the basics of programming 对应, 指设法学习一些编程基础的过程正如十几岁的孩子设法修理汽车的过程一样. 逻辑意思合理, 结构平行,因此是正确答案.
B和D中 过程 与 人对应 逻辑不通 C中 as a teen-ager 的逻辑指代不清, 结构也不对应, to 和 -ing 对应 E中 结构不对应 分词对应动名词, 另外, E也改变了上下文的意思
