通过when they were children很容易得出答案。不过og里面的解释对于occurring不能和when搭配的，我不是太明白

如果是occurring when a child/children, occurring 之前的单词是divorce,这样整句是divorce occurring when a child/children，这样一来，when a child/children 仿佛在修饰divorce.

occurring when they were children,为什么不对呢? 现在分词表主动,过去分词表被动,只因为divorce是发生在过去的缘故,所以必须用从句,还是因为occur只是一个短暂性动作,所以不能用分词? 请指点.

"when" points at a certain time in the past, but "occuring", the verb+ing form, indicates a continuous action.

不对,OG1的B是需要考虑到省略.所以不对,不是ocurring的问题.

现在分词的修饰是表示惯用的，一般用在法令等，是that clause表示一次性的事情。

看了所有关于这个问题的帖子，但是还是不明白OG上为什么说用as代替when是不对的，这两个词在用法上到底有什么区别？我查了字典，两个词都可以做连词或者副词，特别是在作副词的时候意思基本上是相同的。

This question has been clearly clarified by the following statement:

as 可能强调"随着", 表示伴随动作, 好像还是一个进行中的过程, 而when 只简单表示一个时间.

You don't think the Divorce is one kind of continuous action, do you?

as 更多的表示一个有延续概念的动作；而when 没有延续的概念，只表示一个具体的动作
