这里 unforeseeable 修饰 accidents and weather 两个吗？

i chose E, but ans is B

我认为They指代不清，先排除了A、C和E。对于B、D实在不知怎么选择，最后倒是选了B，但只是觉得它比D更顺口而已。

期待NN的解释！

窃以为accidents 和weather conditions应该是并列关系，所以unforseeable仅修饰weather conditions.

看了将近1分钟选了B速度还是不行...不知道NN花多少时间做好这一题？

A、C和E they没有合理指代对象。

I think "can't be forseen" is better than "is un....", to show the limited ability.

代词指代：A、C和E 中的they没有合理代词指代对象。

时态：A、B、E 中 had 均错误，因为主句是一般时；

主动/被动：D不对，weather conditions that are not foreseeable缺乏被动含义。

情态动词：B最大的好处是最像A，不能随便改变原句的情态动词。：）

心得：看到选项中有代词，马上考虑是否代词指代错误；

平行的陷阱：E中形式平行中，混有代词指代错误；半对半错，混淆；

由于they had时态与THAN前不一致，而且应该是被动they are anticiqated，所以杀ACE；从B和D间对比选择。B, but和第一句更好地平行，can be planned和cannot be foreseen比较称，虽然没有中间的对称标志词连接，感觉是话就这样说下去的吧，无论是时态还是结构，D没有被动的意思

B和D的区别还是不太确定...

个人感觉B cannot be foreseen强调主观能力，D be not foreseenable强调客观事实。

根据句子逻辑，应该是强调能力要恰当一点

见到有CDer提到B好的原因是最接近原句中的情态动词can和could，这是一个有效性的选择，我觉得有一定的道理

另一方面我把上面两句话列了出来，是BD的主要不同点，大家细细品味，应当能够感觉出其中在逻辑意思上的差别，我认为前者着重叙述一个事实，含有特定时间特定地点出现的情况；后者则主要表述的是一种属性，不含有具体的时间地点，即不含有“当这种情况发生时”的含义，望大家体味

不过这也只是我们现在讨论来用了，做题时候恐怕很少有人有这闲情逸致了

是不是因为 n+that+be+adj 比如　girls that are beautiful 是ETS不喜欢的形式　

因为啰嗦　可以写成 adj+n 上面的例子就可以改写成　beautiful girls

所以不选D

D中的 weather conditions that are not foreseeable 啰嗦，在GMAT里“ 名词+that+be +adj.”的结构啰嗦，因为可以直接用“adj.+名词”的形式来表达。

所以b比d好

而且 B中 weather conditions that cannot be foreseen，更清楚地表达了weather condition的内在含义

做题的时候在B,D间犹豫，时间很紧然后就用主动优于被动把B排除了……

楼上的不对吧。but连接的后面分句的动词应该是cause。 cannot be foreseen只是一个定语从句修饰weather conditions。

can not be foreseen 不能被预测到的（天气通常是可以预报的，但有些特殊天气还是会超出预测能力）
are not foreseeable 不可预测的（天气本身就是不可预测的，无论什么方法也不行）

体会一下： Beef can not be eaten (对印度人适用)
beef is not eatable

Than they had anticipated不对，应该是被动。所以干脆省略直接用than。D项that are not foreseeable不够简洁，可以用unforeseeable取代。而且B项的cannot be foreseen和前面的can be carefully planned有对应。

B好于D在于cannot be forseen和之前的can be carefully planned结构上更加平行，D里的are not foreseeable虽然意思和语法正确，但平行度差。

自己本身也在纠结这个题目。不知道有多少人能在找这种问题帖子的时候能把大家的回复都看完然后做个比较在分析问题到底是出在哪里。

有些回复实在是太坑人了。主句非划线部分的 can be carefully planned 同 B 选项中的 cannot be foreseen 不存在平行的关系。因为 but 前面是个独立的主句。but 后面是个独立的主句。而且在but 后面的独立主句中，又有一个平行结构。 cannot be foreseen 是定语修饰conditions.

BD 中的区别。概括出来是主谓宾和主系表所表达含义的区别。 B 中被动语态真正谓语动词是 foresee。D 中是主系表。

再往下说就是文章表达的语义更侧重于哪项了

A C E有they的指代问题

B D的差别纯粹是语义上的，选哪个必须从句子其他部分来看
其实句子前后在对比 The spraying of pesticides can be carefully planned, 这是强调了可计划的部分
那么but之后的转折必须要突出不可预测的因素比如不可预测的天气条件，飞行员的失误等等
B表达了天气条件存在不可预测的可能
而D直接认定天气条件不可预测，这是不合逻辑与常识的

现在越来越觉得，对句子细微之处的辨析能力很重要，因为它可以帮助我们超越语法的束缚与相关知识的不足
