15.    In good years, the patchwork of green fields that surround the San Joaquin Valley town bustles with farm workers, many of them in the area just for the season.

1.c有歧义,变成he was donimated by,其实是people 和he比,而且people 的位置也有问题。

(D) In the United States a significant proportion of the commercial honey supply comes from hobby beekeepers, many of whom are likely to abandon beekeeping with the influx of Africanized bees.

(D) Voters in the city, many of whom benefit from the low transit fares, are strongly opposed to increasing local taxes.

Saint-Simon’s followers, many of whom were women, based their feminism on an interpretation of his project to reorganize the globe by replacing brute force with the rule of spiritual powers.

(E) The composition of this elite included vice-chancellors, many of whom held office because of their wealth.

a. the proper structure should be "than he" or "than he was"
b/c. there is no indication of the past perfect tense here in this sentence, also in C, the adjectives "wealthier, better-educated, more polished" refer to a group of people, you could understand the usage by adding a "the" in front of each word
d. loss of comparative structure

第二题还是不明白,为什么不可以用many of whom,而且many of them这句话没有谓语了呀
15:我认为many of whom 也可以,看surronds不行,所以排除B.
      E中的many of them xxx是一个独立主格结构,不需要谓语
11:可以用than he, 但是than he was不行,因为这里是比较介词by的宾语,所以than后面不能出现主谓结构。
第二题,b选项(many of whom)的谓语动词不对,a 选项many of them...

(C) who had been thrust into a world dominated by wealthier, better-educated, and people more polished than he was

1st, concise :
…man who had been thrust into = man trust into

2nd  parallelism
…by wealthier, better-educated, and people more polished than he was..
= wealthier, better-educated, and people <-wrong
should be ‘wealthier, better-educated, and more polished”

the intended meaning : many workers come, among these workers, a large portion come just for the season.

“many of who are” limitedly modifies the “worker”, slightly distorting the meaning: only those workers who stay in just for the season  come to the valley

my own opinion, not creditable

i am confused even more, how can u know 'which' modifies 'fields' instead of 'patchwork' since it refers to the first one in several other questions?

What the hell r they?  if the answer for No15 were 'sound', this one would be 'fail', right?

6. One of every two new businesses fail within two years.
(A) fail
(B) fails
(C) should fail
(D) may have failed
(E) has failed

15. In good years, the patchwork of green fields that surround the San Joaquin Valley town bustles with farm workers, many of them in the area just for the season.
(A) surround the San Joaquin Valley town bustles with farm workers, many of them
(B) surrounds the San Joaquin Valley town bustles with farm workers, many of whom are
(C) surround the San Joaquin Valley town bustles with farm workers, many of who are
(D) surround the San Joaquin Valley town bustle with farm workers, many of which
(E) surrounds the San Joaquin Valley town bustles with farm workers, many are
(B) surround the San Joaquin Valley town bustles with farm workers, many of whom are就是对的, 是吗?

surround the San Joaquin Valley town bustles with farm workers, many of whom are

谢谢eSpirit, 我以为many of whom are 才是独立主格结构, many of them不是呢?

i am confused even more, how can u know 'which' modifies 'fields' instead of 'patchwork' since it refers to the first one in several other questions?——个人认为,句意上看,that修饰green fields, fields surround town, patchwork单独这个词具体意思不太肯定,the patchwork of green fields应该是一大块的田地的意思吧(或者是田间小路),都觉得patchwork surround town 不如 field surrond town合适

One of every two new businesses fail within two years.——中心词是one,用fails吧

many of them / many of whom are个人觉得都可以

many of them just in the area for the season

many of whom are in the area for the reason

名词(代词)+现在分词、过去分词;
名词(代词)+形容词;
名词(代词)+副词;
名词(代词)+不定式;

有一问题:many of who 是否对?是否一定many of whom?

让人纠结的是43题中OG给的答案是many of whom are...
