Q29:

Most of Portugal’s 250,000 university students boycotted classes in a one-day strike to protest a law that requires them to contribute $330 a
                year toward the cost of higher education, previously paying $7 per year.

toward和for比较哪个好，还是无所谓，不是本题的考点？

还是觉得c好一些，关于c，大家都觉得错在to ，因为

compared with强调差异

compared to腔调相似

但实际上compared to也可以作为比较而不是比喻，下面是大全中的一题目，和og的解释

60. According to a recent poll, owning and living in a freestanding house on its own
land is still a goal of a majority of young adults, like that of earlier generations.
(A) like that of earlier generations
(B) as that for earlier generations
(C) just as earlier generations did
(D) as have earlier generations
(E) as it was of earlier generations
The intended comparison should be completed by a clause beginning with as and
containing a subject and verb that correspond to the subject and verb of the main
clause. In E, the best choice, it refers unambiguously to the phrasal subject owning...
land, the verb was corresponds to is, and today’s young adults are appropriately
compared to earlier generations. Choices A and B lack a verb corresponding to is and
a clear referent for that. Choices C and D are confusing and illogical because their
verbs, did and have, cannot substitute for is in the main clause.

那位xdjm,帮忙解释一下B为什么不对。我开始选B, 后来改成了C。

如果不能用compared to, B也比D舒服一点。,for which 引导 the cost of higher education. 可以这样理解吗？虽然for which 靠近education, 但是前面是一个名词短语阿 cost of higher education。 帮忙指正一下。

compare A to B 是指将Ａ比作Ｂ．这里这个词组应该用的不对吧．

切ＰＲＥＶＩＯＵＳＬＹ　这个修饰也不对．

有人说是D有人说是E，到底是哪个？谁能回答我。并且给个合理解释。

A.B.D用contribute toward(=to) the cost错，不能contribute to the cost，只能contribute to the higher education.例如逻辑题中的例子，不能evalucate一个fact，只能evaluate这个fact的结果。

C.引入了一个新词compare，并且找不到compare的修饰词。

E正确，as opposed to为固定搭配“与...相对照”，后面的表达$7 required for the cost of education意思清晰准确。

我觉得应该选D

longman查到的:

contribute something to/towards something
        
The volunteers contribute their own time to the project.
 
E是用了contribute...for,这个搭配应该不对,字典只有contribute...to
