Why do you want to pursue a doctoral study in entrepreneurship?  You might try MIT if you score GMAT 730+.  MIT has a specialization in technology entrepreneurhsip.

MIT, my dream university~~however, I wonder whether my quality can meet the requirement of MIT, this highly competiitve university....

Can I ask why you suggest MIT to me? Do you have any prior experience? Thank you~~

Your profile sounds perfect. You can try to contact some faculties in this area now to see their reponse. But as far as I know, not many people do research in this direction. Why not restrict yourself so tightly? Think about broader range of interest.Good luck!

I do not think the you have to reach the gmat or toefl score in their website have methioned. I knew a lot of persons who just got GRE and still got some offers. One of the top ten business schools said the average toefl score for successful applicants is above 650, but last year I knew none of the appliants who got its offer have toefl score higher than 620.

My research interest lies in the intersection of strategy and entrepreneruship. Entrep is one of the fastest growing segments in the Academy of Management and job market looks promising (see this paper STATE OF DOCTORAL EDUCATION IN ENTREPRENEURSHIP and this one ENTREPRENEURSHIP EDUCATION: EMERGING TRENDS). Top schools in the area include prestigious schools) like Standford, MIT, Columbia and LBS, but a number of less well-known schools (Indiana, Maryland, Minnesota, UW Seatle, Darden) are also very strong in this field. Check out this website: http://eweb.slu.edu (it's not working right now for some unknown reasons, but it's very resourceful).

Application in the field can be very competitive, especially in those top schools. My suggestion for you is to aim for the strategy program in some middle range schools (like the above-mentioned public schools) and apply for smaller schools with big entrep names  (like Ronald Mitchel in Texas Tech  http://www.ronaldmitchell.org/ and Scott Shane in CWRU http://www.som.cwru.edu/faculty/faculty.cfm?id=14051 ) as your backup.

rongdongc, you better go to Shane's seminar, and it is really good. I was told that Scott got another fund from Kaufmann to support this seminar in the coming three years.

Powerapple: Yes, I had an eye on his seminar but found out his curriculum is more economics-based. I prefer theoretical lens in sociology cognition. Are you in the same area? If so, drop me a line and we can talk.

CWRU is not recruiting any PhD students. Heard that it has a financial issue.  By the way, which school are you currently studying in?  Would you like to share your application experience?
