对于only 的用法似乎比较模糊,请大家看一下下面两句有什么区别:
1。the only people not interested in making money in the business world are people who are interested in improving their intellects.
2. only people not concerned with making money in the business world are interested in improving their intellects.
我觉得好像两句的逻辑关系是一样的即:people who are interested in improving their intellects are not interested in making money in the business world.
你们觉得呢?the only people.... 和 only people... 有区别吗?谢谢!
Already asked. See Zidane's post.
Only in "The only" is adj. means "alone in its class"
Only in "Only xxx are yyyy" means "exclusive to or limited to" it's adv.
The only xxx is yyy means yyy is alone in xxx's class, so if something is xxx, then we know it's yyy.
Only xxx are yyy means yyy are limited to xxx. So if something is yyy, we know it must be xxx.
But it's same to say
The only xxx is yyyy
and
Only yyy is xxx
