标题: 耶鲁管理学院今天正式开始新的core course

Courses in the new first-year curriculum are taught in three segments: Orientation to Management, Organizational Perspectives, and the Integrated Leadership Perspective.

Orientation to Management是基础课，传统的economics, accounting, statistics等。但有一门很有趣的课，叫Individual Problem Framing，我上传了大纲，大家有兴趣可以看看。

The heart of the new first-year curriculum is a series of eight multidisciplinary courses, called Organizational Perspectives, structured around the organizational roles a manager must engage, motivate, and lead in order to solve problems – or make progress – within organizations. These roles are both internal – the Innovator, the Operations Engine, the Employee, and Sourcing and Managing Funds (or CFO) – and external – the Investor, the Customer, the Competitor, and State and Society. Integrated Leadership Perspective是6周的完全case study，是对以前课程的大综合。YALE专门雇了一个team和部分老师一起在写case。

另外，1月3日－12日，所有学生必须参加international study trip，地点有英国、日本、阿根廷、希腊等大约8－10个国家供选择，有老师带队。

我今天和YALE的一些资深老师聊到了这个新课程，他们坦言，这个课程耗费了他们大量的精力和心血，所有资深教师几乎都参与到这个课程的设计和开发。

似乎这里毕业去做operation的人不是很多。

Two comments:

1. It is NOT true that Yale prefers long work experience.
2. Many people with operation background go to other fields after MBA. The closest post-MBA job related to operation is some rotation programs in big industrial companies such as GE, Dupont, Pepsi or UTC. There are also many post-MBA positions in the back office of big financial service companies, but most of back office jobs are boring, in my view.

谢谢两位的回复. 我之所以提出这个问题是因为我一直是做operation的,所以以后的方向也想往这方面继续发展. 看来, 做operation的选择YALE不太对路啊.

Operation方向发展的终极目标是什么呢？管个亚太物流中心，或者一个全球采购系统？或者别人并购公司，你去做业务流程整合，改造别人的电脑系统。

真正要做好一个物流经理，不光要懂得各种复杂的优化模型，同样要懂得成本会计，人力资源，领导力，营销和国际金融市场。不过，真的有这点本事，人家也不会让你只当一个operation manager。

我看THE WEST WING里头那些人说他们是YALE LAW SCHOOL出来的，能说会到（其实电视剧而已，哈哈）。但确感觉YALE很棒啊。。

我今天拿到了今年YALE MBA在主要investment bank的internship情况。这是统计到3月底的数据，应该差不多，我没有更新的数据了。其他大的商学院会有更多的人在IB做intern，但YALE只有212个学生。这些人主要受益于每年一月中旬的super week，即IB在yale做on campus recruitment的专场。
