答案是E,但是这个prevent的动作应该应该是由boundary发起的吧，使用现在分词会不会不妥呢？

我觉得这个动作是前面整句话发出的，而不是由boundary发出的

后句不是前句的原因么? 如果是preventing, 则是前句主动作了后句,不对吧?

Simply change the order of the sentence:

Preventing its acoustic energy from dissipating by boundaries in the ocean created by water layers of different

temperatures and densities, sound can travel through water for enormous distances.

Preventing its acoustic energy from dissipating ..., sound can travel through water for enormous distances.

-- The logical subjective of preventing is sound.

but "dissipating by boundaries" looks strange, should be "being dissipated by boundaries", right?

Again, sound is the logical subjective of dissipating. The word by is a preposition referring to location.

这个题目狠明显的,考逻辑主语

主句,+分词...,后面半部分只能用来修饰主句的主语,表示伴随的状态.

只有少数情况表示用途,目的的时候例外,比如OG上那个盾牌的题目,protecting就是就是表示盾牌的用途

这里现显然,只能用ABE

再扫一眼,A不知道要不要用主动,但是有点拗口

B,一看就不对,having太离谱

只有E用了一个正确的词组. prevent sth from doing sth符合语感

prevented没有用法错误啊

as a result of should be replaced by "by"

E的逻辑意思错误，

声音在水里传的远，是由于prevented from BLABLA

E. 如果preventing做伴随状态，逻辑上说不通。句子的意思是说，“声音能在水里传播很远”。后面半句想说为什么能够传播这么远，如果用伴随状态，就带有因果关系，“因为能够传播这么远，所以能够阻止能量消散”。

实际上句子是想说明声音能够传那么远的原因。D选项恰好用独立主格来表达了这个意思。独立主格本身相对独立，只是说明了发生在acoustic energe上的一个事实，这个事实恰好解释了前面的现象，from being dissipated 正确地使用了被动式。

晕，在NYTime上找到了原句：

看来A是比较接近的答案啊，虽然as the result of wordy了一点。不过确实不能用Preventing，而改用了Prevented，Sound 确实不是prevent的施动者。难道这就是传说中的过去分词引导的伴随状态？？

既然是by boundary，那说明前面dissipate的词就应该被动啊~C的dissipating by boundary又是什么意思啊？实在不懂这个by的用法喂！！！
