(A)  before Australia

it was the antipodes

    

(B)   before
there was Australia,
it was the antipodes

    

(C)  it was
the antipodes that was Australia

    

(D)  Australia was
what was the antipodes

    

(E)  
Australia was
what had been known as the antipodes

    

In
B, it has no logical referent,
because the previous clause describes a time when there was no Australia.
    ？？？？ 不懂，什么意思啊 ？？？
大家解释解释？？？

"在AUSTRILIA出现之前，IT WAS ......"

前半句只是指出了个时间概念, 说"在XXXX之前, IT是XXXXX," 所以IT 没有可指带的. 不知道我说明白没有.
