1.In A, the logical subject of " to demostrate" probably is " a canon", while " in demostrating" focus the way in which it is helpful.

2.leaf and small-stem material, two parts of a plant

3.comparing emphasizes the action, not the result of such action, as comparison does.
here the point of the sentence needs a result of comparing.

对23题也很迷惑，为什么不用has been proved. 而用prove?

第7题，我认为是名词更好.因为comparision 可义表达复数概念。而去og中也多次出现名词优先动名次的。

我还是不明白.前面用了as much, 指明了the leaf and small-stem material是不可数呀?

prove + adj. 与 prove oneself + adj.有区别马？

在longman中查到只有人做主语时才有 prove oneself... 23题中itself多余.

对于用has proved而不用proved,我的理解(不知道对不对)是prove这个动作发生在过去,它的影响一直延续到现在.

但我对动名词还是定语从句修饰还是搞不清...头大啊...

23题,helpful to demonstrate what kind of damage是帮助显示什么样的damage,强调对demonstrate这个动作有帮助,而helpful in demonstrating what kind of damage是在显示什么样的damagep这件事情上有帮助作用.根据题意应该是选in demonstrating.

个人理解.

但是shooting 和that shoots还是不太清楚.

如果是 a cannon that shoots dead chickens at
airplanes has proved helpful in demonstrating 那么that从句是不是修饰a cannon的呢？如果是这样，这句话的意思就是一个加农炮帮助演示飞机撞上大鸟的惨状，说不通啊？

如果把 A的helpful to do 改为helpful in domonstrating是不是就对了呢？这样的话是不是说，用加农炮向飞机打死鸡这个action可以帮助演示飞机撞上大鸟的惨状?

狂晕啊。。。需要nn帮忙！！！

这道题在白勇语法中有详解, 其中也没有说helpful to do sth 不能用, 而只是强调doing 和that从句修饰名词得区别. 在白勇语法103页, 大家可以看一看.另外对prove的用法讲的很详细.

For 23;

There exist a comparison in this sentence. Cannon is used to demonstrate what kind of damage can result when jets fly into a flock of large birds.

The comparison is between damages caused by "jets (that) fly into a flock of large birds" and "a cannon (that) shoots dead chickens at airplanes". If the later part of this sentence is changed to "when jets flying into a flock of large birds", then we can choose "a cannon shooting dead chickens at airplanes". Both stress action!
