Q41:

Elk now live almost solely in the Rocky Mountains, which would make it seem that elk are mountain dwellers, while they once ranged over virtually all of the continental United States except for a small strip in the extreme Southwest.

  1. Elk now live almost solely in the Rocky Mountains, which would make it seem that elk are mountain dwellers, while
  2. The fact that elk now live almost solely in the Rocky Mountains would make it seem that they are mountain dwellers, but
  3. It would seem that elk would be mountain dwellers because of their living now solely almost in the Rocky Mountains, but still
  4. Now living almost solely in the Rocky Mountains, it would seem that elk were mountain dwellers, although
  5. It seems that elk would be mountain dwellers from the fact that they now live solely almost in the Rocky Mountains, since

B is correct.

A) Elk now live almost solely in the Rocky Mountains, which would make it seem that elk are mountain dwellers, while

A is wrong because the "which" is definitely a bad choice here.

  1. Elk now live almost solely in the Rocky Mountains, which would make it seem that elk are mountain dwellers, while
(A is wrong simply b/c of "which", usually which can refer to Rocky Mountains, or Elk. But the logical meaning here obviously means the fact that Elk live in the mountains. Hence, the choice is  deadly wrong.)
  2. The fact that elk now live almost solely in the Rocky Mountains would make it seem that they are mountain dwellers, but
       (Correct)
  3. It would seem that elk would be mountain dwellers because of their living now solely almost in the Rocky Mountains, but still
       (awkward)
  4. Now living almost solely in the Rocky Mountains, it would seem that elk were mountain dwellers, although
       (not parallel)
  5. It seems that elk would be mountain dwellers from the fact that they now live solely almost in the Rocky Mountains, since (wrong choice of words)

Elk
now live almost solely in the Rocky Mountains, which would make it seem that elk are mountain dwellers,
                    while

                they once

ranged over virtually all of the continental United States except for a small strip in the extreme Southwest.

Elk -- they  now--once

偶think, B is the best choice.

B)
C)‘because of their being’ -ing分词前面不能加one's
E) 'since'逻辑不对, 而且since从句里的they指代不明啊

另外B选项的would make it seem that+

B

但是A中which不对

B的这个but...

而B中的the fact that....would make it seem that.....

还是VOTE FOR B!

1.it seems that...

It seems that something unusual will happen to them.

It seems unusual that something will happen to them.

2.make sb do...

1. "make + sb + adj"make

Rainy days make me sad.

What he said made the teacher angry.

Soft music makes me sleepy.

Loud music makes me stressed out.

Waiting for him in the rain made me annoyed.

The soccer game made the people excited.

Sad movies always make me cry.

Loud music makes Tina want to dance.

Hard seats in fast-food restaurants make people eat fast and leave.

The boss made him work for 15 hours a day.

→ He was made to work for 15 hours a day (by the boss).

The teacher made the boy do his homework again.

→ The boy was made to do his homework again ( by the teacher ).

3.     Cbecause of living显得十分awkward,排除C

A. COMMA+WHICH...
The fact 没问题.
C. Because of their living不仅是awkward了, 是的确不对. Because + CLAUSE, Because of + NOUN是可以的, 但 Because of VERB-ing一定不对.
ii. would seem that elk would be... 和 seem that elk are...
D. Now living...决定了逻辑主语是麋鹿, 而不是it would seem的it.
另外也有C.i和C.ii的小问题.
