时态错。

(E) Development of the compact disc has been no less remarkable as

less ... as 错。

(D) Developing the compact disc has been none the less remarkable than

developing 表动作，句意为结果。
has been none the less用法奇怪。

没有d那么奇怪。矮子里的将军。

no less+adj+..than..表示的是与..一样adj的是...

本题的意思是与CD的发展同样引人注目的是新技术的应用.....

另外B中的the thing that 不简洁，要用what

这个题目应该这样思考：
（1）扔掉D和E
(2) 比较 A和B，在语法中 what =the thing that,当然A比B要简洁一些。
（3）比较A\c，单纯地看选项我们是看不出来的，往后看in better sound than was ever before possible，发现A的时态有问题，所以C比较好。

为什么说A的时态有问题?A有过去时,好啊!?

“in better sound than was ever before possible” 实际就是拿现在同过去的比较；加上主句用的是has been一般现在时，所以what was和has been 这种搭配是逻辑上不合理的。
其实，选项的比较不是狭隘的语法的比较，而应该是意思上的比较。大家可以把a 和c分别翻译一下。
