a错在and 后面不能再有 because，and前后应该是两个名词结构，删除because后还得删除charcoal使replaced成为过去分词作定语，a才算对

b错在 in addition to 后面的名词结构从语义上说是主要的，它前面的名词结构是修饰in addition to 后面的名词结构；而整个句子的宾语“the replacement of charcoal by coal for the fuel used in the smelting of iron ore” 在逻辑上是主要的，如此便是矛盾

the construction of a is "s tripled as a result of --- and because ---"

可能存在的疑问是ＡＮＤ　前后连词的并列问题，但其余选项没有解决这个问题．

个人认为ＥＴＳ　是把存在问题的句子给出，寻找解决方式，其结构一般不变，除非句子本身存在结构问题．

觉得如果用as well as的话，前面不应该用逗号，A as well as B，用了逗号之后整个句子貌似被分开了，逻辑上出现问题。

个人看法，大家探讨一下哈。。。

回楼主的问题，A中的and后面不应该加because之类的呀，会造成不平衡的结构，as a result of A and B就可以了吧？再说用了and because之后读起来好像又在讲第二件事了，逻辑歧异啊。。。

because后面是要跟完整句子的.because和because of用法完全不同,as a result of和because of的地位是一样的

同意A，觉得as a result of sth and because 句子是可以的 as a result of x and y只有在y也是名词的时候才可以这样并列，但是现在y这个句子要改成名词挺难的，会非常复杂也就不符合as a result of的用法了。个人意见。
