Main idea

This question depends on understanding the passage as a whole. The first paragraph reports the findings of a recent study. The second paragraph examines possible explanations for the findings, ruling out all but one of them.

E        Correct. The passage explores possible explanations for a recent research finding.

E选项里说的是implication(暗示，含义)，解释里说的是explanation，觉得这两个词意思相差很大，所以觉得E选项应该把implications改成explanation才对，请大家指点一下，谢谢

感觉两个词在这篇文章上没有多大的区别。本文首先摆出一个新发现，然后排除了几种对这个新发现的解释，并确定了一个最合理的解释。解释得是什么原因导致了tooth fractures出现的频率的不同。寻找原因一般是一个“推断”或者“推理”的过程。而且原文首句提到了“clues", Line 25 "implies to..." (sorry， 没能明确的表达出关键所在。）

第一段第一句说近来的研究提供了clue to sth.后面两句说了下这个sth.

第二段通过排除一些说法的来暗示某个说法还是比较合理的，就是那个因为牙齿跟骨头碰撞造成了teeth breakage.所以，一直是在讨论研究给的暗示（clue），而不是explanation，因为没有那么自信的语气出现过
