A 不能选是因为that作为限制性定语从句只能修饰最靠近的成分，显然that 不能修饰 tested, 而是修饰engine。修改的方法，换that为，which，（不是最好方案），或者用同位语修饰，或者用独立分句指名修饰对象。在本题中，DE使用了独立分句，但D语法不对，所以选 E
