公共汽车数量在本题是无关项。但OG的解释：An alternative explanation based on the running of more buses can be eliminated. 意思是原文已有关于汽车数量已经增多的描述，所以D不对，因为跟原文给的条件相反。

但原文中看着有点关系的句子只是：the mayor's publicity campaign for Greenville's bus service began six months. 哪里有说“汽车数量已经增多”呢？
