18.Computers are becoming faster, more powerful, and more reliable, and so too are modems, they are the
devices to allow two or more computers to share information over regular telephone lines.

(A) so too are modems, they are the devices to allow

(B) so too are modems, the devices that allow

(D) also modems, they are the devices that allow

(E) also modems, which are the devices to allow

OG解释强调device不能用to allow,而用that allow 或allowing,这又是为什么?谢谢

device 是名词吧，后面用that allow 或allowing修饰他吧

各位NN好!

莫老師有說過, 用不定詞的主詞要能做此動作,

例如手冊P.26) I close the window to keep the room warm.

所以是I 做了to keep the room warm的動作,

而, device乃非人也, 故不能用不定詞作此動作,

其次, 要用What問這是什麼device, 故要用名詞子劇that 回答,

如有錯誤還請更正!!

貌似这个跟devices是不是人，能否做出allow的动作没有关系。

除非是表示目的，

好像用不定式修饰一个发出动作的主语没见过。

可是，这里的allow明显不是表示目的。

另外我给你找了一题来进行对照，

请参考OG－106。

OG解释说，名词aid不能跟to heal来修饰，要跟in healing。

好像很相似啊。

ETS说过不能用不定式修饰名词，ETS只认分词和从句，当然还有同谓
