which u are you currently in ? your profile looks good in the sense that you have nice GPA and GMAT. if you want a better shot on PHD finance, i guess math and stat courses are highly appreciated (of course, good grades). if you are interested in management related fields, i would say your chances are promising, but not in top 20. but it is hard to say. it also depends on your LORs and many other things, such as luck. good luck
as i know, math courses in the offered in the business school is not highly valued, compared to those offered by the Math department. Many successful applicants to the PHD Finance program have rigorous training in math and stat, as well as Econometrics. as an undergrad, i guess it would be fine if you have had multi-variable calculus, liner algebra, differential euqation (ordinary and partial), some probability and intro Econometrics. i would say all these are basic stuff. it would be great if you go further and study stochastic process,time-series analysis.etc.
but onece again, there is no fix rule. maybe you can think about MBA instead of PHD, maybe a better investment with higher marginal benefits. it all depends what you love and your career goals.
You have a good background. I don't think you have the superior position in applying for management or marketing (cb track) where psy and soc guys dominate, but I do believe you can have the very excellent chance to get involved in a top program in accounting or finance. I suggest you to apply for accounting, which has a wonderful job market and monetary returns than any other majors in b-school. More importantly, accounting does not need a very strong research experience but some excellent standardized records, like GMAT and GPA, which you have.
