1. I chose E, because the meaning seems easier to understand. Then why B?

注意把握句子结构

E选项变成有两个动词，而且无连词

B选项表示前面发生的理论这件事造成的影响

应该是feed而不是horse吧。

ETS很注重句子的逻辑, 任何选项随意把句子的意思改变都是不对的.
正如E, 用了WHEN而强调了时间, 而原文强调的是因果,所以E不对!

A的错误在哪里? 仅仅是因为被动语态不如主动语态么?

看了另一个同主题的帖子. 发现a的问题了.

这里by pursuading...并不是resore的补语, 而是修饰market equil...所以错了.

是不是被动语态的by xxx一定要放在动词后面,不可以放在前面?

B选项：persuading people to eat what had previously been horse feed restored market equilibrium。

主语：persuading people to eat what had previously been horse feed---动名词做主语；
谓语：restored
宾语：market equilibrium

而且，用动名词做主语强度动作，符合前句用一个理论解释一个现象的“动态过程”含义。
请NN指正。
