1.B错在him,前面是some这里起码是个them。the的用法也有问题

2.不定式不能做伴随状语,不能单独由逗号连接。另外后面没有补出it was

3.B。theory that 是比较正确的选择,D肯定不对,只有B

4.(B) After passing through a red giant stage, depending on its mass, a star will compress itself into a white dwarf, a neutron star, or a black hole。两个分词重叠修饰star,显得繁琐,ackward

第五题:A是有语义重复,可以直接说这个东东就行了,不必再说这个东东是一个什么样的物质,罗嗦。 但我觉得A最大的问题可能还是后面的非限定语从句which的指代有歧义,既可以指代substance ,也可以指代 the Madagascar periwinkle,因为它可以跳跃修饰。

C的修饰也有歧义,GMAT通常不喜欢被修饰的中心名词前面有两个修饰词,既可以理解为Madagascar修饰derivative,也可以理解为periwinkle修饰derivative,通常都是N+OF结构或是同位语从句修饰更为明确。

6.        B的 it 有问题, it 在GMAT中只作形式主语。C和D改变了句子的主干和从属部分,C中the same crops as large farms to the small farmer用法也不对。E就是个乱的,尤其是主语部分。最后一个分句的主语不能用they,前面复数名词太多,绝对有歧义,B、D、E错。

7.       主语 pattern是单数,A和B肯定是错的。我一开始觉得D和E不好区分,觉得应该是E的虚拟语气,后来查了一下,名词性的descendant应该接 of 。 形容词性的descent后面是from 。所在D对,我想这可能就是CORRECTIVE和EFFECTIVE错误的区别吧。

 第8题偶也看不明白,期待NN

同意5楼,whatever不能做连词引导从句,whatever its merits是代词+名词词组

第3题的that在正确答案B中引导定语从句,修饰theory,划线后面的contributed to the extinction of the dinosaurs and many other creatures some 65 million years ago. 也相当于一个省略了that is 的定语从句,修饰 impact 。供参考
