10*x*x=14.4

x=1.2

thus at 4:00pm, there are 10*x=12 grams

乘(1+X)或X都是可以的，乘什么到后面就用10去乘那个数

by the same fraction 应该是说每3个小时增加的百分数都相同

乘X还是乘1+X,其实都一样。因为问题问的就是那个10*X, 或者10*(1+X).

其实复利问题也是等比数列问题。

等比数列的q，相当于复利里面的(1+i),复利率就是q－1.

设增加的比率为x,then the amt. on 4:00pm should equal to 10*x, by the same token, the amt. on 7:00 should be (10*X)*X=14.4 X=1.2

the amt. on 4:00pm =10*1.2=12

我的方法是根据“by the same fraction" （以同样的增长速度）列出等式：
（X-10）/10=(14.4-X)/X
得X=12

要是这样算的话,前三个小时和后三个小时增长的总量不一样啊?
