The argument says that "The researcher concluded that people who frequently manipulate other people are likely to become addicts."  ---> Manipulation causes addict

A) After becoming addicted to drugs, drug addicts learn to manipulate other people as a way of obtaining drugs. ---> Addict causes manipulation

the cause and effect relationship of answer A is just the opposite of the argument. Hence, A weakens the argument and is the correct answer.
