关于AC的歧义，我觉得你这样理解没有问题，总之是和原文意思反了。把答案B代入原文，就是：在美国，工会在它们在争取社会合法性（for social legitimacy）的斗争中（in their struggle），遇到了比其它大多数民主国家的劳工运动更强大的阻力。A和C的意思就是：这些工会遇到了反对他们斗争的强大阻力，而这些反对他们的“阻力”（against their struggle）的目的就是for social legitimacy than，而根据原文，这显然是应该是工会组织的目的。
