(D) double the figure for 1977

(E) a number double that of 1977's

e向中number指代不清，为什么d中的figure就可以亚

同感。不过错误选项嘛，无法深究，OG的官方说辞是：awkward(好像就是错误的委婉说法似的）。OG推荐的as many as in 1997偶也觉得挺别扭的，好像as many as that in 1997更完整一些，阁下一下如何？

"that of 1991's" is wrong. Either "a number doubled 1997's" or "a number doubled that of 1997" will be correct.

不太清楚楼上的意思，能在解释一下吗，double是可以做形容词的亚

OG对E的解释是"wordy and awkward". 并没说number指代不清. 这里wordy and awkward是在说that of 1991's, 不是说number的.

我还没清楚呢？偶认为D中的 the figure 指代不清：既可以指代20,736 也可以指代 9；
