我想问是像网友曾说的：这里的比较是certain pollutants释放程度的多少，而不是pollutants种类的多少，所以用less

没有其他解释必须用fewer 不用less？谢谢！

I think it is less relavent to consider fewer vs less for this particular problem. E is the ONLY optin that correctly compares VEHICLES with VEHICLES. All other 4 options either compare vehicles to fuels or doesn't make sense logically.
