答案d没错。你想，如果Y公司要付很多加班费overtime pay给工人，加班费又是平时时薪regular pay的好几倍，那么即使两个公司用的工人一样多，Y也得多付好多钱呢。d就是排除了加班费的这个可能，使结论可以成立。

为什么要排除这个可能呢？既然就是要证明：Therefore, hourly wages must be higher, on average, at Yorco than at Zortech,

如果不排除加班费的因素，那就不能证明Y公司的小时工资高呀，因为两公司的regular小时工资有可能是一样的，只不过Y付了好多加班费而已。

原文是要support "hourly wages must be higher, on average, at Yorco than at Zortech".

而hourly wages = 总的钱数 / 总的工做小时数.而总的钱数在文中说了Y多(Y spends a far higher total sum per year on wages for such workers).剩下的就看总的工做小时数了.如果总的工做小时数一样的话,就能说Y比Z多.而D说加班少,就是Y和Z的工人都是每天正常工作(小时数固定的).

D是对的.

而E没有给出总的工做小时数的比较.
