我也认为是by要优于among，因为如果是用by，表达的意思是正是这些biologists 而没有别人在 debate ，而如果用 among 的话，表达的意思是 debate的人有很多，biologists 只是其中一部分，扩大了原文的范围，这也是常考点之一。

by is better than amony here, because it follows debated. if it is something like "a theory still having a lot of debates", among may be better. any opinions?

用between的话，应该跟上and　表在什么之间吧？否则句意不通．我觉得可以用among. 　　　各位有意见吗？

a theory是同位语吗？是修饰systems吗？可以不一致吗？

debate的对象是前面整个的theory，而不是systems

which的话修饰对象不清楚，因为逻辑上它要修饰前面整句话，而语法上这又是不可以的。而用a theory就清楚了
