答案(E) .为什么(A), (B), (C)不行？我觉得都说的过去啊。谢谢

这题出得好,典型的ETS式语法.原文说了:for 18 consecutive years ,ABC用了former产生逻辑意思错误:做了18年的前..职位.

是不是for 18 consecutive years.....for 28 years已经表示了“前”的意思，所以再用former重复？

If "as the former person for 18 years .. and for 28 years", the main sentence should be "the person had done sth"

我觉得是不是这样：因为former或是present只是一个瞬间的事，一旦你卸任，你就是former的了。但是原文中是for 18 years，所以需要一种能表示持续一段时间的表达方法。哈哈，个人之见。
