标题: a question! [打印本页] 作者: l_shasha 时间: 2003-9-29 10:41 标题: a question! The nation’s three military academies have seen a dramatic rise in applications, (one fueled by a resurgence of patriotism, increasing tuition costs at private colleges, and improved recruiting by the academies.) A. one fueled by a resurgence of patriotism, increasing tuition costs at private colleges, and improved recruiting by the academies.
B. one fueled by a resurgence of patriotism, tuition costs that have increased at private colleges, and academies improving their recruiting
C. one fueled by a resurgence of patriotism, private colleges that increased their tuition costs, and recruiting improvements by the academies
D. fueled by a resurgence of patriotism, tuition costs increasing at private colleges, and academies improving their recruiting
E. fueled by a resurgence of patriotism, increasing tuition costs at private colleges, and academies improving their recruiting
why the answer is (A)?
“one” is for “dramatic rise”? but then “increasing tuition costs” and “improved recruiting” are parallel with who?

one fueled by | a resurgence of patriotism, increasing tuition costs at private colleges, and improved recruiting by the academies.|
就是这三个东西的并列。其他选项都不符合并列的原则。

one more question is here... Once the economic and social usefulness of the motor car was demonstrated (and with its superiority to the horse being proved), much of the early hostility to it in rural regions disappeared.
A.and with its superiority to the horse being proved B.and its superiority over the horse had been proved C.and its superiority to the horse proved D.its superiority to the horse proved E.with its superiority to the horse having been proved
answer is C
but why before "proved", there's no "be" or "that"? whereas the first half sentence, before "demonstrated", "was" is there...
