BY给的答案是B,大全的答案是C. 我认为是B, B的时态也能说过去,而且和前面从句对称.而C名词短语和前面不对称.

prove 用主动表示被证实....

但是Longman对superiority的用法：

并没有superiority to这种用法

demonstrate和prove并没有先后啊，为什么要用had been proved,给个用过去完成时的理由先。B不对。

关于superiority, longman上的确是用over. 但是形容词superior是用to的. 所以，我猜测superiority to也可以。

在逻辑和阅读大全上有以下例子:

LSAT: Top college graduates are having more difficulty demonstrating their superiority to prospective employers than did the top students of twenty years ago when an honors degree was distinction enough.

GRE: demonstrate the superiority of using an economic approach to historical analysis

GRE: demonstrate the superiority of laboratory studies of zooplankton feeding rates to other kinds of studies of such rates

当然，superiority over的用法也出现过，所以我觉得to, over都可以。ETS应该会有一些其他线索来帮助排除.

关于B,时态感觉不对，另外and不能连接两个句子吧，逗号＋and才行

白勇书上也自相矛盾的P12，7.并列结构中的省略2）就举了这个例子的“proved前省略了was”，而P132解释中却又说C选项不对

"had been proved" is unidomatic for its unidiomatic passive usage and its needless past perfect tense.

Donot focus on the prep, only idiom is a must.

同意选C，C为：and its superiority to the horse (was) proved,并不是名词短语，对于同一句中两个并列的动词，后一个是可以省略BE的，OG上有例子

i believe C is the key.

proved是was proved的省略形式。因为前面was demonstrated中有WAS. not had been. so B is wrong

根据ETS习惯，had been 肯定错了，一定错了，绝对错了。完全没有必要用past perfect tense...

个人感觉ETS的习惯是having been肯定错了，不是have/had been

同意C,并列句前面出现be动词后面省略.而B中没有明显时间词表示此处要使用过去完成时
