主語 + 謂語 + 比較級 + 賓語 + than + 名詞
則是賓語和名詞的比較。比如﹕wild animals have less fat than livestock是fat和livestock的比較。
助動詞應該是不能輕易省略的。
支持答案C。沒有助動詞。但是fat和that of livestock是可比的。B的比較不對。A前面的比較是可以的。但是後面的不對。

我也喜欢参照nytimes，觉得他们写得很好。可惜时间太少，订了这份报纸基本上没有翻过。
PS： livestock谓语动词用复数。常见的这类名词有: people, police, cattle, poultry, militia, livestock, youth, vermin, folk

同意楼上的观点，今天做到这一题郁闷了好久，觉得那个答案都有缺陷，后面觉得B的歧义错误是ETS反复强调不能犯的，所以硬着头皮选了C。
OG里面凡涉及两个句子比较，主句是主＋谓＋宾的结构，than引出的比较从句如果比较主语，一定要补出主动词，来消除和主句的宾语比较的歧义。
以上道理我经过好久才算深刻的明白了，没想到这个题的答案……55555555
