答案是A,不过我看不懂这句话的意思，its的指代对象我也搞不明白。

平行对应, 都做状语.主语是Halley’s comet ,谓语CAUSE ......

As 或
                than 引导的比较从句，比较从句的主语和谓语相通时，
            可以全部省去，
            常常保留做状语的介词短语或状语从句
