A: has been dated to be 3.47 billion years old and thus is

B: has been dated at 3.47 billion years old and thus

C: have been dated to be 3.47billion years old and thus are

D: have been dated as being 3.47 billion years old and thus

E: have been dated at 3.47 billion years old and thus are

I think it should be E,but someone view C ????

dated at. 后面跟了一个表示具体多少时间

date to是有的，但是用法是date to 250 B. C.，后面加一个时间，意思是have existed since

也可以用date back to/ date from表示这个意思

Answer E. "Remnants" pairs with "have been" so eliminate A and B. Idiom is "dated at" so eliminate C and D. "Dated to be" is incorrect.

找了一些资料，基本确定这么一个顺序

dated to 是最好的，没有问题。dated at 次之。但是dated to be错误
