我不明白的是前面用的是there is，表示每一台计算机对32个学生，后面为什么不能用there is表示每一台计算机对32个学生，这样不也是对称吗？？？

不明白的是C中用的 were，XDF老师的解释如下，

为什么补出的助动词是were呢？

我不明白的是前面用的是there is，表示每一台计算机对32个学生，后面为什么不能用there is表示每一台计算机对32个学生，这样不也是对称吗？？？

four times比较的主语是谁？应该从句意上去理解，从本题中可以看出，很显然，主语是computer。

如果是这样，一定要变成对称结构的话，那么就变成了：现在每32个学生就有一台电脑，4年前也是每32个学生就有一台电脑。。。那么，哪来的four times呢？《－－显然不对，因为这不是一个对称结构。

为了形象一点，来举个例子：
there is one ring for each of my fingers, five times as many (rings) as there are in your fingers.
请问，你的手指上戴着有几个ring？。。。嘻嘻。。。答案就是：there are two rings in your fingers.

本来有少许明白了，可是你的5个ring 又把我弄晕了，怎么是2个rings，不是说5times 吗？？

呵呵，其实这句算是省略句吧。就好像新闻报道里常有的，某某希望小学电脑普及率已达到两个人一台，（电脑总数）是一年前的两倍。
