标题: In At Kellogg, Northwest
My first admission offer, while not too excited.
Applied for 2nd Round, Interviewed on January 28 in San Francisco.
5 years in Big 4 Beijing, 1.5 year in Big 4 US, undergraduate from Tsinghua U., GMAT 730, TOEFL 267.
Since I am still interested to continue my career in the public accounting area, really do not know it is worthwhile to spend 2 years and more than $200K at a MBA program, tough decision.
Willing to hear some advise from all of you. Many thanks!

Congrats! Kellogg is such a great school in both marketing and finance, LZ should not be vacillating. Be happy about your achievement!

恭喜LZ!不过请问你读的是KELLOGG的什么MBA?怎么需要$200K这么贵?

强烈恭喜!but i dont think an mba carries much value for you if you want to stay in public accounting. from your 200k usd calculation, i guess your annual salary is already 100k usd? then in short term, an mba would not help you much in terms of career development and money compensation. but if you put things in a long term context, mba may give you some other benefits, such as a block of time to slow down and examine your past (i believe some ponder over the past is valuable, although you may argue it is too expensive to do so), options open in case you are tired of your current job, new perspectives and skills, etc. ...while saying this, i wonder what is your motive to apply to mba at the first begining. the process is not easy, if you didnt make up your mind, how did you convince yourself to stick it up?

谢谢djcong and everyone!
我的情况有些特殊,是直接到美国工作的。毕竟没有在美国读过书,it is hard to believe a Chinese people can make a partner at Big 4 US without any education background in the States.
But anyway, I will think thoroughly about your suggestions.

Which field of public accounting are you in? I guess your current position is a senior. If you don't go to school this year, do you expect to make a manager within 2.5 years?
Some big4 firms sponsor Executive MBAs for managers and in some cases, seniors. Do you see that possible in your office?

Really appreciate, excel.
I am a senior in the audit function. If I did not go to school this year, I am expected to make manager next year in the US, or senior manager back in China within 1 or 2 years.
Since my long-term goal is to make a partner in the US, I guess it is a good time to go back to school. Thanks anyway!

seems you've made your decision. you need a u.s. degree...well, i support excel's opinion. is it possible for you to choose a part-time or executive degree from a top school? by the way, are you from sem?
