答案是D: although they supplemented

og的解释是说语气有比较成分，

但是我觉得从句已经写了是supplement了，那就表明和主句表达的意思是一样的阿，并没有对比，也没有转折阿

只是说打鱼和打猎是个补充，所以我觉得更像是一个extension的关系。

所以B我觉得是不是合适点：and had supplemented

虽然时态不是太一致，但是逻辑的准确性是不是应该优先极高点呢

大家觉得如何呢？

I think the author is contrasting the primary activity with the secondary (supplemented) activity. Using AND changes the meaning of the sentence.
