employers will sometimes refuse to hire a job applicant because of an inconclusive polygraph test result.
原文说 employers will sometimes refuse to hire a job applicant because of an inconclusive polygraph test result.(也就是说,宁可错杀一千,不能放过一个"liar"),显失公平。
Since the passage is consistent with both E and its denial, E is not supported.
偶觉得这道题,在于准确把握作者的态度,因为这是一个根据原文推导main point的典型题目;
作者先说了这个test的基本情况是result is inconclusive,然后解释了原因是:can't judge...truthful..or not truthful;然后又举了一个招聘的事实,显然作者的态度是对例子中employer的做法表示了不满,即认为:以不确定的结果来判断whether emplosy examinee;employer持有偏见!!
Neither B nor D is supported, since the information given includes nothing either implicit or explicit about polygraph tests that yield conclusive result
Since the passage is consistent with both E and its denial, E is not supported.
some refused,也就是some accepted了呀。
91. When a polygraph test is judged inconclusive, this is no reflection on the examinee. Rather, such a judgment means that the test has failed to show whether the examinee was truthful or untruthful. Nevertheless, employers will sometimes refuse to hire a job applicant because of an inconclusive polygraph test result.
Which of the following conclusions can most properly be drawn from the information above?
(A) Most examinees with inconclusive polygraph test results are in fact untruthful.
(B) Polygraph tests should not be used by employers in the consideration of job applicants.
(C) An inconclusive polygraph test result is sometimes unfairly held against the examinee.
(D) A polygraph test indicating that an examinee is untruthful can sometimes be mistaken.
(E) Some employers have refused to consider the results of polygraph tests when evaluating job applicants.
OG对A的解释是the test is no reflection on the examinee.而A说了untruthful。

Your first choice and logic is totally wrong. I'm sorry to say that. As employers use the test result to make the decision of hiring or refusing applicants, not vice versa ( the employer's decision shows the whether the test results is rite or wrong).
I think your second thought and understanding is right. As an "unconclusive" result is an uncertain result. We can't conclude the applicants as "truthful" or "untruthful". However, the employer refuses the applicants anyway, which may cause unfair to the applicants.
We can't get answer E. Because the problem doesn't say anything about how the employer uses the "conclusive" answers to choose the applicants. We only know they reject the "unconclusive" applicants. So, E is not the answer.
B can't be properly explained either. As we don't know whether the employer's decision on the applicants based on the conclusive result is fair or not. So we can't say that we shouldn't use the polygraph test.
One important thing about this problem, i think, is that we can't draw any conclusion based on the information that is not given in the problem. That's the clue we use to exclude B,E,etc.

if some "employers will sometimes refuse to hire a job applicant because of an inconclusive polygraph test result."
doesnt that mean -- employers will sometimes consider an inconclusive test result?
這剛好和e是相反的~ so E) is not an answer here
(E) Some employers have refused to consider the results of polygraph tests when evaluating job applicants.
91.
The passage indicates that an inconclusive polygraph test tells nothing about the person who has taken the test, and yet employers sometimes refuse to hire someone whose results from such a test are inclusive. Treating lack of information as if it were unfavorable evidence about a person can reasonably be considered unfair. There, C is the best choice.
Choice A is not supported, since the passage says that an inconclusive polygraph test is no reflection on the examinee. Neither B nor D is supported, since the information given includes nothing either implicit or explicit about polygraph tests that yield conclusive results. Since the passage is consistent with both E and its denial, E is not supported.
我觉得 both E and its denial都与原文没有关系,怎么会像og所说是一致呢?
polygraph test 一共有三个结果:truthful(诚实)、untruthful(不诚实)、inconclusive(不确定)
(no reflection on the examinee)
Rather, (or) rather, :
1、conclusive (可以测出truthful or untruthful)
2、inconclusive (不能测出truthful or untruthful)
这也就是为什么OG对B, D的解释是 the information given includes nothing either implicit or explicit about polygraph tests that yield conclusive results.
(B) Polygraph tests should not be used by employers in the consideration of job applicants.【过分推导,作者仅仅提到inconclusive的测试结果成为某些雇佣人员拒绝的原因,潜在反对此应用,但不能推出其也反对使用conclusive的结果来决定是否聘用!】
(C) An inconclusive polygraph test result is sometimes unfairly held against the examinee.
(D) A polygraph test indicating that an examinee is untruthful can sometimes be mistaken【偏离原文,原文指出的是inconclusive结果,而从未讨论过关于其它测试结果判定一个人是否诚实的有效性问题】.
C
(E) Some employers have refused to consider the results of polygraph tests when evaluating job applicants.【
