PSU: Full Tuition Waiver plus monthly stipend
BU: $30K per year
They are two different schools with its own stength. So before knowing what you want to do upon graduation, it is difficult to judge.
Congrats anyway!! that is alot of money!!!!
Great thanks to you, eeyupyup and lyw4u2005!
To be honest, initially I didn't have the ambition to apply for top business schools and to me money matters, but as things
progress, I find out that I should have. It's not fun to play with offers hard to distinguish itself from among many.
My aspiration goes to: 1. management consulting particularly to nonprofits, 2.social entrepreneurship, 3. nonprofits. It seems to
imply a somewhat broad and unusual scale when it comes to specific MBA program choice.
The list for discussion may extend further to include Texas Austin, Georgetown, UWashington, Babson, even Wake Forest and
Case Western Reserve...
I hardly see any mentioning of these schools, i guess it's because most CDers are real giant NIU and dying for only top 5-10 ^_^ ...
Any perspective on any above mentioned 2-tier school?
I do want to gain a fuller sense of them to make a sound decision, thank you for your input and I wish you all the best of luck !

For a looong long time I have been out of the world of business,
no any single occupation taken for years already,
so whichever school admits me, it does appreciate my individual attributes and I am grateful for that
Basically I chose B Schools based on whether it offers abundant scholarship, that's why I end up with "big sum" for several 2-tier
mostly second-tier B schools
those with relatively higher ranking ( according to my limited knowledge ): Emory, Notre Dame, Austin, etc
others: Penn State, Wake Forest, Southern Methodist, Georgetown, Boston University, Babson, UWashington, Texas A&M, Vanderbilt, Rice, ...
Real NIUers please add to the list
Good luck to you!
Appreciate it, treadapath!
Are there any schools in California or west coast offer money?
As far as I know, in western coast, Arizona State does, Southern California does not.
I checked my record and would like to expand the list with some more schools that offer scholarships: Ohio State, Wisconsin Madison, Tulane, Baylor, RPI, UM-Amherst, George-Washington, Connecticut, Georgia.
There must be some others, but I am sorry I don’t know for sure. At least, these programs are not worthless, right?
Everything edifies!
Even in a hard way.
It Does Not Hurt To Give It A Try, as the old saying puts
While I have been always grateful
Thanks, treadapath.
Since you havenot worked for long, so you just provided previous work experience?
I have been out of work for one year. I am wondering studying in a graduate program is another experience.
I can understand your feelings, as I experienced similar situation two years ago. It's natural for people to pursue something better after achieving what they have been longing for.
But I do not think odds are in favor of you to be admitted in the last round. The competition for top 10 is really intense, a totally different story than non-top10 schools providing full scholarship. However, if you really do not want to regret in the future, you should give it a try this year or even next year (if unfortunately). Those schools providing scholarship are very likely to give you scholarship again next year.
In my case, I tried to apply for top ten during my first-year MBA in a second-tier program and was told by many of them that they do not consider students in other MBA programs. I ended up with being admitted by a top 10 but not magic 7. Considering ROI and other factors, I did not attend at last, but at least I will not regret in my future because I have tried.
Good luck with you!
thanks!
Can you provide me your MSN?
I want to chat with you about the MBA application.
I am currently in a big band company and mean to apply MBA next year

Joeysue, sorry for late response, I didn't see your post earlier. My interview with BU was on Jan. 26th, and it was my ever first interview with business schools but turned out to be the most pleasant one. While it still took almost a WHOLE month for the result to arrive -- on Feb. 23rd something via phone ( I am at US)
During the waiting, I called the admission office several times to check for my application status and was always told it was under review even just one day before I was informed of their decision. About two weeks after my interview I was told that there was still one reference letter missing! And actually it is right there in my application package! Yeah, a little bit weird. I guess they are having some trouble handling an increased volume this year.
So please donnot feel frustrated, probably your admission is on the way. Even not, never give up hope or give in to adversity Life is full of turbulence, but everything edifies, trust me! And wish you the best luck!
to be honest, I am touched by your words. These days, I have been anxious about application. thank you.
plus, have you made the decision yet? this year, I applied only two school , bu and smeal. I will do the interview next week. if admitted by both like you, i think i will choose smeal.
but I don't see it as a good sign
Thank you PSU!
Frankly, I should have reached you earlier , as a compensation, I 'm going to give you a pleasant surprise in a couple of weeks, ok?

I’m glad you said that!
Most people have once or often encountered certain anxiety or frustration, so what differentiates a person will always be a right, solid faith, not in oneself, but in that life is created with a divine purpose and for a meaningful vocation.
Since I do have a somewhat unusual life experience, I am afraid that I cannot provide you a standard format and question set for the interview. There are great posts here on CD such as the one initiated by PSU and some discussions on BU.
Just bear in mind when interview these principles: Relax and be yourself; Be confident and clearly concise; Present compelling argument as to your motivation for an MBA, choosing this specific school, the thread that underlies each step you took academically, personally and professionally…
Hang on...
