Hi!
Does anyone have news from the wharton Doctoral program in management? I saw their website FAQ that the admissions committee meets in late February and again in early March, and the departmental programs make their final decisions by late March.
However, I think stevewu is already rejected by Wharton Accounting.
I don't mind starting a wharton reject thread cos I'm probably in the reject list. He he
快了应该,呵呵
let me start tabulating the CDers' wharton stats
Two downs
stevewu - Rejected by Accounting
kellylau - Rejected by Marketing
Feel unease every time I check my email
I applied for their insurance and risk management program. Does anyone have any news?
seems a good news.
I applied for the insurance and risk management program too, no news yet.
punkaronnie, did you have interview with them?
一边落泪一边tabulate

Nope. And I have stopped checking the online status.
What is your background? Do you mind sharing with me?

How did you find out, kunpuring?

pg coordinator of the department emailed to me.
thanks!

I've had a bachelor's degree in china and several years working experiences (not related to RMI). Now I am in canada working on my second bachelor's degree in actuarial science. My gpa in china was very lousy, but I got a very good gpa here in canada. Passed three actuarial exams, have a co-authored paper submitted (in statistics, not directly related to RMI).
How about you?
I got my undergrad in China and I am graduating with MSF in the US. Both GPA's are good. My major is in finance, and I am interested in the actuarial science and risk mgmt.
Good luck to both of us and let me know if you hear anything.

For sure. Good luck and keep in contact.
I also applied for this program. and it seems that the admission committee is evaluating applicants and plans to send offers within two weeks from March 1.
死也要死在宝马下!
楼上的都是好样的!
等待让人好心烦
timothylu,和你申了同个专业,严重自卑中

Good. I am tired of checking the online status everyday. What is your background, Winnie? Do you mind sharing with us?
oh good.. finally you answered my question.
i got my bachelor's degree TODAY from a university in HK. i major in insurance and actuarial science. passed 4 SOA exams. spent one year in the States as an exchange student. and worked there in a government institution as an actuarial intern. that's it.
Well, I tried to stop myself from coming here or checking online status or refreshing emails all the time so that I can concentrate on what I am supposed to be doing.
Both you and timothylu major in actuarial science, and that is an advantage. I concentrate on corporate finance and risk management, and decide I like RM much better than accounting.
You worked in the US as an intern while an exchange student?
yup i did.
i also keep checking email every morning when i just open my eyes, though i know the final result may not be released until the middle of next week.
Hi everybody above, it is nice to see that there are some people applying for RMI,
although somehow we are competing with each other.
Good luck to every of us, and no matter the result, at least we tried.

punkaronnie, i also applied PhD in RMI@wharton, but no news yet.
Have u got any interview?
Really? Damn, I've not heard anything from the committee, so I guess they don't want to interview me. It's probably time to move on and find a job now. Fortunately it's pretty easy to find an actuarial job in New York area. I will try to get a master in finance or economics after I work for a couple years, then try PhD again. Good luck to you all.

Nope. Do you have a background in I&RM, Henly?
It is spring break next week! Maybe going on a road trip is not a good idea........I am going anyways
go ahead
wow~~cong! timothylu, good luck!
could u tell us your background and share some interview experience with us
dear guys, if no news, it's not good new...at this stage, most of the decisions have been made.. i know that i'm in the so called "alternate group"..but i dont think anyone would reject wharton's offer..so game over...
I think the point is what order you are on that list.
Don't believe there is no rejection from student at Wharton.
punkaronnie and henly, thank you for the encouragement. My interview is scheduled a couple
days later. I will post the experience once finished.
winniesun00, don't worry too much, anything could happen during the process. It is very
possible that somebody screws up an interview (hope it's not me ) or somebody might
reject their offer. (I do think quite some people might have finance as their first choice
and use RMI as a backup).
anyways good luck all!
thank you for the encouragement. i dont care it too much. still long way to go and other offers are coming..
forgot to say congratulations to you
Had phone interview today, talked with Cummins, Mitchell and Muermann. All are general questions like why phd in this field, why wharton, long term objective, etc. They did pay attention to my previous education and research experience, asking about the textbooks I used and the topics covered in certain courses. The whole interview lasted about 30 minutes, half of the time they were asking me questions, the other half I asked them.
They said the first round offers will be extended next week. They admit 2 to 3 people each year.
I have got the rejection email from RMI@Wharton
Anyway,goodluck,timothylu!
Good Luck timothylu!
I haven't heard anything from Wharton, and I just assume I will not get any offer. I called Buckconsultants's Secaucus (NJ) office today. I worked two internships there, and rejected their full-time position offer in Jan. Now I am most probably going to work there after all.
I will appply for a master program in two years, then try PhD again after I gain some research experience. timothylu, please remember to come back to share those valuable information with us if you get the offer!

Thanks for sharing with us, Timothy! It would be hard to remember the authors of all of my textbooks though.
No news is bad news now.

Did Wharton send out offers already?
punkaronnie, how did you find out those information? did you get an interview?
I called about two weeks ago. The person said they had not made a decision on my application, but "it probably is not a good sign". She asked me to call back again. Let me find out tomorrow and share with you guys.
That is great, Timothy!
I got rejected. I guess I will first work for a couple of years then.
