此题B是正确答案吗？但总觉得B选项but also后面应该有一个代词代指前面的the systematic clearing，这样句子才平行。

还是因为not only 的实际位置应该是the sysematic clearing not only created ^^^但not only 提前，所以不需要but also后面跟一个代词？

A: 1)gave错 2)it多余 3)not only...but also表示递进,这题需要转折

B: 1)which指farmland,错 2)not only...but also表示递进,错

D: 正确, but it also表示转折: 见OG阅读216的解释: Choice D is incorrect because the passage does indicate that coral reef communities are complex, but it also states that they have been able to thrive in nutrient-poor waters.

E: 1)it多余 2)not only...but 强调递进, 错

I first thought it was B. But now after seeing jandjshi's explaination. I agree with him. The sentence is trying to say that the clearing of the forest did something good(provided cheap housing), but it also did somthing bad(caused erosion).

this pattern cannot be represented by 'not only.... but also....' in B.
