请问，A中，为何herself要放在an escaped slave前面，放在它的后面岂不是更好吗？

A) best

B) being多余，反身代词放在名词前常见，so as to is wordy and awkward.
C) 反身代词放在名词前; for guiding应用to do, 意思相当于in order to do表目的。
D) so as to is wordy and awkward.
E) for the guiding of错。

我来，看看这样的解释是否满意：

后面的要用to guide，而不用for guiding，表达in order to do的意思，用不定式比较好。
前面的反身代词，按照惯用法，要放在名词的前面。例如：
His name is James but he calls himself Jim.

综合这2点，可以肯定是选A了。不知道大家是否赞同？

俺在The Henry Ford Museum看到一段话：
Harriet Tubman：
Tubman was perhaps the most famous "conductor, " or escort, ont he underground railroad. An escaped slave herself, she risked her life again and again to lead some 300 other enslaved people to freedom.

反身代词作同位语

例如：

I myself will go to the gym. （修饰I）

The thing itself is not important. （修饰the thing）

反身代词作同位语时一般出现在被修饰名词的后面。

见题目，A与C，“Harriet Tubman, herself an escaped slave, returned, ”herself 修饰H，作H的同位语，再看C“Harriet Tubman, an escaped slave herself, returned,”
herself 修饰an escaped slave，违反了句意，因为你是不能判断一个逃跑犯人的性别的。况且C中用for guiding的形式表目的也不是很好。
