申请duke，但T score被ets寄丢了，截至日期马上就到，请求帮助！ - ChaseDream

11T的twe本来就被ets自身的问题拖延了很久才出来，学校给的邮件要求必须在9号之前把t score

寄到，给duke打电话，他们让重新寄，但他们说一般不会轻易给ets打电话；给ets打电话，他们说可以让学校给ets打电话confirm。

I think that it must be Duke's problem...I ordered ETS to send my Toefl to 7 schools in November, among which, only Duke informed me that the school didn't receive my scores.

Let us who suffer the same problem unite! 如果真的有很多人遇到这个问题，我建议我们联名写一封email去duke，要求学校先接受我们的scanned copy，然后给我们更多时间与ets协调。这样可能效果会好。个人行为似乎学校并不重视。我发了email去学校确认是否可以先用scanned copy，至今尚未回复。

In the past 3 days, I wrote 4 emails to Duke admissions regarding the TOEFL situation but never got any feedback.

I called Duke's Admission Office for 10s of times but never got any person to receive my call though the voice always repeated that "You call is very important to us" and "Sorry for extended delay and thanks for holding...."(I guess that the telephone billing this month would be horrifying...)

Maybe the school has filled enough spots of its class with the 1st-round applicants? I just couldn't accept that the school is going to have applicants to bear the result of the fault of a third-party service provider (ETS, if not the school itself) whereas this third-party service provider is actually the only qualified service provider accepted by the school. What's a fallacy!!

Sorry that if I offended any Duke fans....I was just too angry..I loved Duke too and even now I still hope that it will give me an accepable solution by Feb. 9.

My situation is a little bit different. As I got my MS degree in America and have been working in the States for a couple of years, I don't need to submit TOEFL (at least all other schools I applied waived my TOEFL ).

First I got email about 2 weeks ago saying that my TOEFL is missing. I replied and told them my situation. After 5 days, I got another email saying that I can waive the fee. I really could not understand what the heck the fee is. So I called them and wanted to know whether they have already dinged me because of TOEFL. I was kept waiting online for 15 minutes and finally talked to a lady. The lady was damn cold. She said: We are busy, you have computer, you have internet right? Send us Email. Then she hung up the phone immediately. Then I sent a mail to them complaining this bad experience and list several reasons why I don't need to take TOEFL.

And after another 3 days, I got email again and was told that the second email about the fee was a mistake. That mail was supposed to be sent to someone else.

And yesterday, I got mail again saying that I need to submit TOEFL before Feb 9 or my application package will be moved to R3.

I said: All these do not match the reputation of Duke. If Fuqua doesn't spend time on this, it can not stand out of Top 10, if you can be really counted as Top 10.

Anyway, I don't care my Fuqua's result now. I will go to Anderson if I can not get offer from Wharton in R3.

给他们写信的时候最好能够给admission advisor抄送一份，同时，最好电话能够找advisor，一般接电话的都是secretary，他们每天接了那么多的电话，心里肯定不耐烦。

还没有，不过她给我回邮件说让我等她答复。如果你有米国的朋友，最好让他们帮你打此类电话，反正我打过几次都是非常忙。难道他们处理电话的人对不是从北美打过去的都有歧视？

我不是想说duke的不是，因为我没有权利。

中国人就不能说中国人的不是了吗？动不动就觉得别人在歧视自己，搞得一天到晚神经兮兮的，给你解释一下吧：学校不向ETS查询因为两点：1、这不是学校的错，要学校花费资源来做这件事情对学校和其他申请者都是不公平的；2、ETS根本不会理会学校的查询，因为学校不是他们的客户。明白？规则规定了学校会用你的申请费来做A/B/C/D/E，你要求人家做F/G/H人家就是有不接受的自由，规则是公平的，但总有人在潜意识里希望通过override规则来显示自己的特殊。

这么好处理的一个问题把一群准MBA难成这个样子也真是好笑，先不说非要赶最后一班分钟做事情的恶习，人家已经说接受Scanned Copy了，还想怎么地？

一共前后发过6次scanned copy （最早是1月20多号，最晚是昨天）。她一直没有回复。直到昨天回信给我说点轮。然后居然还说她觉得很奇怪我为啥说我发了5次email都没收到回音。- " reply to every and each email from applicant"。里面也只字不提scanned copy 行不行了 - 虽然3个礼拜前说过"it helps"

我仍然在和学校联系，或者说申诉。如果又不理，我会写信去院长。

坎肩同学，一些事情你如果没有亲身经历，或不知道具体情况，请不要发表过于伤人的评论。在这种情况下就算是发表一些可能unjustified complaints 又如何呢？也不是太大不了的事情吧？何必挑起争端呢？给中国同胞多一些理解吧。谢谢。

一件坎肩同学，你并不了解事情的经过，他们并不是象你想的拖延到最后一分钟办事情。就我个人的经历，我从去年9月和今年1月两次让ETS送成绩到DUKE，然后询问DUKE有没收到，其中发了N次邮件，打了M次电话，但是从来都不被答理。然后突然收到DUKE的邮件就说成绩没收到，还下了最后通牒，如果9号之前还没收到就放到R3。当时已经是6号，再找ETS重新送成绩已经是不可能按时到达了。成绩没有到，是有很多因素构成的。有可能是ETS出了问题，或者寄信过程中有丢失，再或者是DUKE自己没有匹配上。在我们把自己能做的事情都做了之后，依然是有很多事情我们无法控制的。

同是申请人，焦急的心情是大家都能理解的。不能帮到他们，至少我们可以安慰一下。嘲讽，说风凉话是大可不必的，因为这些话无用而且引起争吵，污染CD上和谐的气氛。无意中看过了你几个跟贴，好象都是风凉话居多，大概你自己也知道这样不是很好，所以才用了一个马甲吧，呵呵。

Hi - if Duke is not nice to applicants, you might re-think your application. For me, if a school do not put students' interest in their priority, they are not worth applying.

No offence to Duke fans - but I don't see the level of respect and warm-heart from admission officer, during the MBA tour. I originally was a big fan of Duke but I decided not to apply in the late application stage.

我遇到同样的问题,打电话给ETS,他们说接受学校verification,但提醒:学校通常不会这样做.其实争取学校理解促使他们主动去查,也不是完全不可能.

I was now informed that my application was completed for ROUND 3 though I didn't do anything after Feb. 9...the deadline set by the school.

"I just checked for score reports for our applicants and your missing TOEFL was loaded into the database. Your application is complete for round 3.

Because all files were to be read and turned into the office by 02/10/2006 there is no way to keep you in round 2.I know it was unfortunate and no reflection on your part. I'll make sure that the committee knows that you submitted all the required materials and ETS was responsible for the TOEFL."

At last, the blame goes to ETS and the disaster goes to me, a perfect ending for the school, right?

Again, no offense to any Duke fans...anyway, admission office is not all of a school. Good luck and Congratulations to all of those admitted to Duke
